Our Impact

C4EE opened its doors in October 2017, although many of our projects kicked off in 2015. Since then, we have educated a range of people from different backgrounds about renewable energy, home efficiency and other topics. Below you find some of our important programs that have been constituted in the last year. We are very thankful for all the support we received from our partners and the community!
We are working hard for a bright future for the Center, our Community and the whole planet. Join us!

What we achieved so far…

Teaching Tomorrow's Scientists

The Center for Energy Education offers solar curriculum training for teachers in public, private and charter schools in the area. The workshop is designed to integrate solar education easily into science teachers lesson plans.

Energy Summer Camps

The Center for Energy Education offers summer camps for school age children during summer months while they are out of school. They learn about renewable energy while doing fun hands on experiments and crafts. Healthy living is built into the summer camp through free meals and outdoor activities.

O&M Training

O & M Training is an educational course on solar energy in cooperation with the Center for Energy Education, NRECA and Halifax Community College. The course equips students in the operations and maintenance of utility-scale and community solar farms. Students will acquire the skills necessary to provide efficiency analysis, troubleshooting, diagnostics and maintenance of overall components of solar farms. The insight the course provides will give a good starting point to become NABCEB certified for interested individuals.

Solar Education for Public Officials

The Solar Farm Workshop for Public Officials provide the latest information and updates on topics related to solar farms from industry experts, academia and county officials. The featured topics for this meeting include Solar Industry Updates, State and Local Permitting, Health and Safety Impacts of Solar Technology, Legal Considerations for Landowners and Officials, and Tax Treatment and Revenue Impacts.

Solar Farm Construction

Solar Construction Classes include Wiring, Racking, Mounting, Small Tools, Measurements and OSHA 10 training.  Classes are held at C4EE and at Halifax Community College.

Solar 1on1

Solar 1 on 1 is an informational meeting for the community to learn about solar, renewable energy, solar projects in the area, and up coming Center for Energy Education events.

Impressions of the Solar Construction Class and OSHA 10 Class Graduation Ceremony

The Center for Energy Education (C4EE) is pleased to announce that the first “Solar Installation and OSHA Training Class” held its graduation ceremony on Sunday, April 8th, 2018. The C4EE presented graduation certificates to 97 local residents from Halifax and Northampton Counties who successfully completed the six-week course. The course was made possible through sponsorships from EDF Renewables and Geenex Solar and was provided at no cost to the students.

“We are excited to offer this program to local residents. Many solar companies are expressing difficulty in finding workers with relevant training and certifications.” said Mozine Lowe, Executive Director of the C4EE. “We believe this program can ‘jump start’ jobs/careers in the growing solar industry.”
