In celebration of Small Farms Week, a dynamic and educational event unfolded at the Center for Energy Education. The center welcomed a group of bright juniors and seniors from Weldon STEM High School—a group of young minds eager to uncover the intersection of science, agriculture, and renewable energy. The day’s activities stood as a tribute to the crucial role of small farms and a testament to the potential of solar energy in shaping sustainable practices. ___________________________________________________

The visit coincided with Small Farms Week, a time dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of small farms to our communities. The collaboration between Weldon STEM High School and the Center for Energy Education was a fitting celebration—one that connected the dots between agricultural practices, scientific inquiry, and the evolving landscape of renewable energy. ___________________________________________________

The students, primarily from agriculture and science classes, embarked on a journey that bridged two seemingly distinct realms—solar energy and farming. The event provided a unique platform for the students to explore the symbiotic relationship between renewable energy solutions and agricultural practices. ___________________________________________________

The highlight of the day was the exploration of solar energy’s dual role—nurturing plant growth and generating electricity. Students were immersed in discussions about the ways in which solar energy can be harnessed to provide both the vital energy needed for farms and the sustainable power needed for communities. ___________________________________________________

The day’s activities went beyond classroom discussions. The students engaged in hands-on experiences that underscored the practical applications of solar energy in agricultural settings. Through interactive demonstrations, they gained insights into how solar energy can drive irrigation, lighting, and other essential processes on small farms. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________
