Roanoke Rapids, NC – Thanks to a generous donation from Geenex Solar, the Center for Energy Education (C4EE) introduces the C4EE Mobile Classroom, which is designed to provide hands-on workforce development as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning opportunities for schools, community organizations, and the general public.
The C4EE Education and Training Manager will drive the vehicle that comes equipped with micro-grid displays, classroom lab aid kits, and all the necessities for an educational experience about solar energy. The Center provides a place to raise awareness of renewable energy and its importance locally, regionally, and globally. In response to the suspension of in-person programs due to COVID-19, C4EE remains committed to offering educational programs to its communities in North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.
The C4EE Mobile Classroom will be used in partnership with schools to teach renewable energy and STEM-focused programs while following social distancing guidelines put in place by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The vehicle will also be used to teach remote solar construction workshops for residents in communities where solar projects are developing.
“Our long-standing partnership with Geenex Solar is important to the work we do at the Center and we are excited about the educational opportunities the C4EE Mobile Classroom brings to the community,” said Mozine Lowe, Executive Director for C4EE.
“Our entire team is very excited to be a part of this program,” said Juergen Fehr, Managing Director at Geenex Solar. “Education and community engagement are very important and deserving of our full support,” said Fehr.
The mission of the C4EE STEM in the Park program is to expand the accessibility of STEM learning opportunities to K-12 students with limited internet access. Activities will be led by school teachers in an outdoor environment using the C4EE Mobile Classroom. “We encourage the community to use the educational vehicle as a resource,” said Lowe.
